Printing onto different materials

A Variety of Print Methods
Requirements can vary from a simple one colour print on a small area of the board to a complex full colour print that covers most of the board. To do this we use a variety of methods such as screen printing, digital print, heat transfers, pad printing, hot foil blocking and digitally printed vinyl stickers.

A Morning Advertising article about the Old castle pub in Bridgnorth recently caught my eye. The poor publican's local council had made him remove an A board from a council owned roadside grass verge.

It wasn't the petty bureaucracy of the council that interested me - though this is irritating enough - it was the massive difference the loss of the A board has made to the old Castle's trade that was fascinating.

Bryn Masterman, the owner of the pub, has calculated that trade dropped by a massive 25% when the board was taken down. This translated to £100 a day in food sales plus drinks on top, so much so that this was forcing him to think about cutting staff hours!

It seems to me there are two lessons to be learned here -

2. Be careful not to upset your local council and if there are restrictions on signage size or frequency, then ensure you are making the most of what you are allowed to use. If you watched Junior Apprentice on BBC 1 last night (cup cake episode), you will have seen a number of Chalkboards that were used to try and promote their cup cakes. We’re all delighted to finally launch our new range of “easiclean” chalkboards - Guaranteed not to shadow and to provide an easy to clean chalkboard surface that lasts for a very long time.

Made from High Pressure Laminate (HPL) the boards bring a number of fantastic features to our existing range. HPL is extremely tough and provides a perfectly smooth surface. This makes for a brilliant printing material and is something we shall be recommending for our bespoke board customers.

The big plus is that HPL is so tough it can be wiped clean time and time again without damaging the surface, and because the surface can be wiped completely clean there is no shadow left from the previous image.
As well as introducing a range of standard Unframed HPL chalkboards we’ve also cherry picked some of our more popular lines, such as Framed HPL Chalkboards and A-Frame HPL Chalkboards, and manufactured an HPL version.
